Transformers Games Disappear From Steam, PlayStation Store

From PC Mag: The rush to buy Christmas presents is over and retailers are turning their attention to the post-Christmas sales. However, just before Christmas, games publisher Activision decided to pull a number of titles from sale on both Steam and the PlayStation Store meaning they won't be featuring in any digital sales.

The games in question were highlighted by Twitter user @RobotBrush and include The Legend of Korra and seemingly all Transformers games Activision offers. More specifically, Transformers: War for Cybertron, Fall of Cybertron, Rise of the Dark Spark, and Devastation have all disappeared. There was no warning or reason given, they were all just pulled from sale.

Typically, video games disappear from sale in digital form because licensing contracts expire. Music rights, for example, are a common cause of games disappearing as paying for a new license for titles that are years old and only see a trickle of sales simply isn't worth it.

We have to assume Activision's decision to disappear the games is due to licensing, but the lack of warning is strange. You may remember Alan Wake was removed from sale back in May due to music licenses expiring. However, Remedy Entertainment warned everyone it was happening a few days in advance and discounted the game by 90 percent.
