A Bug Is Making Your Switch Forgetful

From PC Mag: The Nintendo Switch is one year old and nobody could have predicted just how successful it would be this early in its life cycle. But while remaining extremely popular, the Switch isn't without its bugs. In August last year a battery indicator problem took hours to fix, now the Switch has started forgetting how long you've played each game.

The Switch keeps track of how many hours you've spent playing a game. If you purchased Breath of the Wild on launch day and played it through to completion, that total will be tens, if not over one hundred hours. However, as Kotaku reports, some users noticed in the past few days that the play time total is being reset to zero hours for some games.

Nintendo acknowledged play activity information is "displaying incorrectly" in a tweet, but also made it clear no data is being lost. It hasn't been explained why the total is reset, but Reddit users figured it out.

It looks as though Nintendo decided to only record play activity using day and month information. With the Switch now being over a year old, anyone who started playing a launch day game such as Breath of the Wild will experience the play time total reset.
