From DailyTech: The eReader market really kicked off in earnest when Amazon threw the Kindle onto the market. The eReader proved to be so popular that other companies started quickly developing products of their own. One of the more interesting offerings that turned up was the Nook from Barnes & Noble. The Nook has now been updated to version 1.3 and brings with it some new features for the reader. One of the cool new features in the update is a beta offering called Read in Store. This is the digital equivalent of what you see people doing in physical Barnes & Noble stores when they are sitting around reading books and magazines. With the new beta service, users who take their Nook to the physical store will be able to read full versions of eBooks and eventually periodicals while in the store. The service will let you read free for up to an hour each day. The update adds enhanced Wi-Fi connectivity and a basic web browser that is also a beta offering. Other features include new games like chess and Sudoku. New updates include faster page turns, faster access to eBooks that were opened previously, and an enhanced color navigation screen. The update is said to take about 5-7 minutes to download via Wi-Fi. Once installed the Nook will reboot and settings in the device will be saved according to Barnes & Noble.
