Nvidia Introduces New Affordable Quadro Graphics Boards

From X-bit Labs: Nvidia Corp. this week released two new professional graphics solutions aimed at customers in budget who demand unparalleled performance of professional software amid moderate price. The solutions are based on Nvidia's GF106 and GF108 graphics processing units with some additional functions enabled. The sweetest thing about the novelties are relatively low prices.

Nvidia Quadro 2000 graphics card powered by the code-named GF106 chip sports 192 stream processors along with 1GB of GDDR5 memory (with 128-bit memory bus). The newly announced low-profile Quadro 600 is based on the GF108 chip that features 96 stream processors and 1GB of DDR3 memory. Both GF106 and GF108 are powered by Nvidia Fermi architecture and while both chips can hardly boast with extreme computing power, the architecture itself will enable high geometry processing performance (+50% vs. previous generation FX 1800 in case of GF106) and Nvidia's software is likely to ensure both rapid and flawless operation of professional applications.

The Nvidia Quadro 2000 and Quadro 600 support OpenGL 4.1, DirectX 11, DirectCompute and OpenCL. They also leverage the Nvidia CUDA parallel computing architecture that enables increases in computing performance. Like all the rest professional graphics cards, the novelties support 30-bit color fidelity (10-bits per color), these Quadro solutions enable the display of billions of color variations for rich, vivid image quality with the broadest dynamic range.

The Quadro 2000 ($599) and Quadro 600 ($199) are available from leading global workstation manufacturers, including Dell, HP and Lenovo, as well as authorized distribution partners including: PNY Technologies in North America and Europe, Elsa in Japan, and Leadtek in Asia Pacific.
