Microsoft Releases Windows 7 Service Pack 1 to the Public

From DailyTech: For those of you running Windows 7 (and that's likely a huge portion of DailyTech readers), Microsoft has officially made Service Pack 1 (SP1) available to the public. This move comes just a week after Microsoft provided SP1 to MSDN/TechNet subscribers.

“Remember - for Windows 7, SP1 will help keep your PCs well supported by delivering ongoing updates, many of which have been made previously available through Windows Update,” said Microsoft Brandon LeBlanc on the Windows Team Blog. “It does, however, include client-side support for RemoteFX and Dynamic Memory which are two new virtualization features enabled in Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1.”

The download for the x86 version weighs in at 537.8MB while the x64 version comes in at a hefty 903.2MB.

For those that aren't too familiar with installing Windows Service packs, Microsoft has a handy how-to guide that you can read here.
