Canon Adds New D-SLR, Point and Shoot Cameras to Lineup

From DailyTech: Canon has unveiled a pair of new D-SLR cameras today that include the new Rebel T3i and the Rebel T3. Both of the cameras have some of the same common features like a new tutorial mode in the menus to help new users learn to use the cameras and take better photos.

The T3i camera has an 18-megapixel sensor and a 3-inch variable angle rear LCD for taking shots overhead or at other odd angles. The T3i also gets an A+ automatic mode that takes picture style into account when shooting to analyze faces, colors, brightness, movement, contrast, and more. All of the parameters are adjusted within the camera for the best image quality.

The 3-inch Vari-Angle rear LCD has a resolution of 1,040,000 dots and has anti-reflective and anti-smudge coatings. The T3i also has several creative filters to get effects like soft focus, grainy black and white, Toy Camera, and a Miniature Effect Filter. The camera can also record 1080p HD video at 24p, 25p, and 30p and uses a DIGIC 4 imaging processor and has digital zoom for movie filing with 3x to 10x.

The camera can shoot bursts of up to 34 shots in full resolution JPEG or 11 shots in RAW format. Photos and video are stored to SD or SDHC cards and the camera supports SDXC cards too. The T3i will ship in March with the camera body going for $799.99 and a kit with and EF-S 18-55mm lens at $899.99. Another kit with an 18-135mm lens with IS integrated will go for $1,099.

The T3 D-SLR camera is similar but uses a 12.2-megapixel image sensor. It has the DIGIC 4 image processor, 9-point autofocus, and lots more. It can shoot 720p resolution video and stores to the same SD/HC/XC cards. The camera shares many of the other features the T3i has and will ship at the end of March for $599.99 with an 18-55mm kit lens.

Canon is also offering new Speedlites with the 320EX selling for $249.99 and the 270EX II selling for $169.99.
