Verizon iPhone 4 Sales Now Open to Everyone

From DailyTech: Apple and Verizon officially announced the CDMA version of the iPhone in early January, and pre-orders (for existing Verizon customers) opened up on February 3. Those pre-orders quickly sold out within a few hours -- a JPMorgan analyst puts the pre-order sales tally at 500,000 units.

Today, the Apple Store and Verizon are opening up pre-orders to everyone. Apple's online store now has purchase options for both the 16GB and 32GB Verizon iPhone 4 devices right next to purchase options for the same phone on AT&T's network. Those who pre-order a Verizon iPhone 4 today can expect the phone to ship by February 18.

Not surprisingly, the mythical white iPhone 4 is still unavailable on either network, although some reports suggest that it may make an appearance shortly.

IFixit earlier this week cracked open the CDMA version of the iPhone 4 and found that it incorporates Qualcomm's MDM6600 "dual mode" CDMA/GSM chip (the GSM portion of the chip, however, is disabled). That has lead some to speculate that the next iteration of the iPhone could very well support CDMA and GSM networks making it easier for customers to switch from one carrier to another and simplify production demands for Apple.
