AMD hires former HP executive as CIO

From InfoWorld: AMD continued shuffling its senior executive ranks on Monday, appointing former Hewlett-Packard executive Mike Wolfe as its chief information officer.

Wolfe will be responsible for managing AMD's global technology infrastructure, the company said in a statement. He will report to Thomas Seifert, who is the interim CEO and chief financial officer.

Wolfe for the past five years was the vice president of IT for product development and engineering at HP, AMD said. He also previously worked at Motorola and Freescale Semiconductor.

"[Wolfe's] considerable talent and experience will help AMD to continue strengthening our IT infrastructure and streamline our business based on our own products and platforms," said Seifert in a statement

The move amounts to a bit of an executive swap between the two companies. In August 2009, HP made former AMD CIO Ahmed Mahmoud its senior vice president in global information technology.
