PowerColor Shows Off Word's First Radeon HD 7970 X2 Devil 13

From X-bit Labs: PowerColor, a leading supplier of graphics processors that belongs to Tul Corp., has revealed the first image of its upcoming dual-chip Radeon HD 7970 X2 Devil 13 graphics card that is projected to emerge on the market in the coming weeks. The new solution will be PowerColor's flagship graphics card that will compete against products like Nvidia Corp.'s dual-chip GeForce GTX 690.

PowerColor Radeon HD 7970 X2 Devil 13 has three-slot cooling system with three fans and requires three PCI Express 8-pin power connectors. The board carries 3GB or 6GB GDDR5 memory, but its clock-speed is unclear, just like the frequency of the graphics processing unit itself. The card has two DVI, two mini-DisplayPort and one HDMI video outputs. Thanks to two AMD Tahiti XT graphics chips, the dual-chip graphics solution will have 4096 stream processors, 256 texture units, 64 render back ends and so on.

As Advanced Micro Devices seems to be getting late with its dual-chip Radeon HD 7990 graphics card, actual suppliers of graphics adapters are developing their own multi-GPU flagship solutions in order to compete with their rivals that sell Nvidia GeForce GTX 690 graphics boards.

Pricing of the PowerColor Radeon HD 7970 X2 graphics card is unknown, but given the fact that Nvidia's partners sell GeForce GTX 690 graphics boards for $1000, it will be relatively easy to make the dual-chip AMD Tahiti XT graphics card competitive in terms of pricing.
