From X-bit Labs: Acer Group. And Intel Corp. on Monday announced the introduction of the Acer Liquid C1 with Intel Atom Z2420 (Lexington) inside, which will be the first x86-based smartphone in the Asia Pacific region. The Liquid C1 smartphone will first be made available with a special promotion during Mobile Expo later this week, with wider retail availability at a retail price of THB9990 ($333) in the weeks following. “By working closely with Acer, we are offering the market a powerful option, for a device that deliver a great user experience in terms of amazing battery life, rich graphics for casual gaming, advanced camera features, smooth web browsing and multi-tasking,” said Accharas Ouysinprasert, country manager of Intel Microelectronics Thailand. Acer Liquid C1 comes with 4.3” (960*540) display, Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, Intel Atom processor Z2420 at 1.20GHz with Hyper Threading and supports up to 21Mb/s data download on HSPA+ Intel XMM 6265 slim modem. The phone also features 4GB of storage (expandable to 32GB with microSDHC card), 8MP camera with LED flash, 0.3MP front-facing camera, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR, GPS, 2000mAh battery and so on. The smartphone measures 127.3mm*65.5mm*9.95mm and weighs around 140 grams. “Acer Liquid C1 marks a successful milestone and proves that the smartphone is a small form factor of computing device which requires expertise from leading technology companies who truly understand and lead in innovation. Intel introduced the Intel Atom processor Z2420 (code-named Lexington) at CES early this month. Today Acer is the first to introduce a product based on this new technology in this region," said Alan Chiang, general manager of Acer Computer in Thailand. It is unknown whether Acer plans to make a similar phone available in other parts of the world. The unsubsidized price of around $333 seems to be rather competitive even in better developed countries, but 4GB of storage does not seem to be enough. View: Article @ Source Site |
