Google Search Results Redesign Lands on Desktops

From PC Mag: In May last year, Google launched a new search results design for mobile devices. Now that same redesign is being rolled out for desktop users this week.

Google confirmed the new design was imminent on desktop via its Google SearchLiaison Twitter account. The tweet included a mockup of the design.

The key change here looks to be putting the branding of a website "front & center" according to Google. The focus is on displaying a brand's icon next to the their site's domain name on the first line. That should help people quickly know where the link is going to take them if they choose to click on it. Just as importantly, ads are clearly marked with a bolded "ad" label in place of a brand icon.
