From PC Mag: Home security firm Ring this week unveiled a handful of new Protect Basic plan features—including a price hike.
Starting next month, subscribers will get twice as much video storage (up to 180 days), more bulk video downloads (up to 50 clips), and a slew of upcoming alerts. But there's a catch: The cost of a Basic plan(Opens in a new window) is rising to $3.99 a month or $39.99 per year in the US, up from $3 monthly or $30 annually. The change takes effect on your first billing date on or after July 1, 2022.
That extra $10 to $12 a year will soon include features like package notifications; alerts for non-humans like cars and animals; mobile warnings at the sound of breaking glass; and custom event signals for when a gate or door is left open.
The July update does not affect Ring Protect Plus ($10/month) and Pro ($20/month) plans, which already include the same features as Basic, and then some.
