From PC Mag: Instagram access has been restored in Turkey now that the social media site has agreed to meet the country’s demands regarding censorship and crime-related content.
Transport Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu announced the decision on X.
Instagram users in Turkey abruptly lost access to the site on August 2. While Turkey didn’t provide a specific reason why the site was blocked, the block came after the country’s head of communications, Fahrettin Altun, accused the platform of censoring posts that expressed condolences for Ismail Haniyeh, a Hamas leader who was recently killed.
The block in Turkey comes at a time when several social media sites have been removed in different countries over political concerns.
Earlier this week, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro decided to block X in the country for ten days over concerns that Elon Musk is inciting hatred on the platform, violating its own rules.
