From PC Mag: X's courtroom drama in Brazil may be about to end. To get the ban lifted, the social media platform has agreed to comply with the Supreme Court's orders, The New York Times reports.
Last month, Brazil's Supreme Court banned X after it failed to appoint a legal representative for its presence in the country and block some accounts that were, according to Judge Alexandre de Moraes, a threat to Brazil's democracy.
In a court filing on Friday, X's lawyers said they would agree to the court's demands. Accounts listed by de Moraes will be blocked, and Rachel de Oliveira Villa Nova Conceicao will be appointed as their legal representative, lawyers representing X told Reuters.
However, X's filing in court lacked proof of appointment. In a Saturday ruling, de Moraes gave X five days to provide commercial registries and other documents verifying the appointment and gave the court's secretary 48 hours to check if the other orders had been duly followed. Once everything is in place, the court will review the actions taken by X and make a final decision about extending or lifting the ban.
