About HD Tune Pro 5.70

HD Tune Pro is a hard disk / SSD utility with many functions. It can be used to measure the drive's performance, scan for errors, check the health status (S.M.A.R.T.), securely erase all data and much more.

Unfortunately, HD Tune does not generate any fancy independent graph outputs in particular, so I just took a screenshot of the program. The ADATA Elite SE880 1TB's throughput remained very flat on average. While HD Tune is more of a drag race than a clear indication of real-life performance, it is an excellent storage performance reference among SSDs with the same controller. The results were good across the range; the recorded access time was low as we would expect from a solid state drive.

The Elite SE880 1TB posted an average of 608.5MB/s for its sequential read speed, which was almost twice as high as the Crucial X8 1TB at 327.5MB/s. This figure also significantly exceeded the LaCie Rugged SSD 1TB's 367.3MB/s result. The Western Digital Black P50 Game Drive SSD 1TB was in roughly the same ballpark at 588.7MB/s. At the end of the day, HD Tune may not be the best test for solid state drives all the time, but these results are always interesting to look at.
