ASUS ROG Strix Scope RX Review (Page 3 of 3)

Page 4 - Conclusion

While nostalgia can only go so far, I will hold my judgement about this hiring until I see the results. In a similar vein, even though it has been a while since we last looked at an ASUS product, I still must provide a fair analysis. Thankfully, I can say ASUS has delivered quite well on their ROG Strix Scope RX. This is a very good example of a solidly built keyboard with minimal deck flex and good material choices. Its IP56 rating is also a testament to a keyboard that can withstand some accidents or spills. Even though the gamer appearance may not fit everyone, I do really appreciate the attention to detail in their gamer-focused aspects. Things like the wider left Ctrl, on-the-fly macro recording and profile switching, full NKRO support, USB passthrough port, and F-key locks are all welcome additions. I like the fact there are many secondary functions, including a Stealth mode for incognito gaming. The ROG Optical Red switches do a fine job in providing a nice tactile feedback while feeling agile and lightweight. Finally, the lighting on the ROG Strix Scope RX is quite good in offering customization both in the software and on-the-go. Not only do the lights stay bright and vibrant, but the placement of the front-facing legend allows for even illumination. The Armoury Crate software offers good customization in a modern-looking package and I appreciate the synchronization options available for their peripherals and their other hardware. In terms of areas of improvements, I would first want to see a wrist rest included with their ROG Strix Scope RX, especially since this is appreciated by many gamers. Next, I really would want PBT keycaps for further longevity and feel. Finally, I would have liked if the keycaps were easier to read when the lights are off, even if it may adversely affect the light distribution with the backlight on. At a retail price of $130 USD, the ASUS ROG Strix Scope RX is fairly priced for all the features and additions we have. As such, the ASUS ROG Strix Scope RX is a strong candidate for those looking for a gamer-focused optical mechanical keyboard.
