AVerMedia Live Gamer 4K 2.1 GC575 Review (Page 4 of 4)

Page 4 - Conclusion

The Live Gamer 4K 2.1 GC575 is AVerMedia's latest and greatest PCIe capture card with its main selling point including support for HDMI 2.1. As such, it comes with most of the top-tier features you might expect. Starting with a physical look, the PCI Express 3.0 x4 interface and small size should allow the Live Gamer 4K 2.1 GC575 to fit into most builds. It offers high refresh rate 4K pass-through gaming for up to 144fps, while capturing at up to 60fps at the same resolution. It also supports ultra-wide resolutions, variable refresh rate, and HDR pass-through and capture. The RGB LED lighting is a fancy appearance addition while the physical build looks good, both aesthetically and in the soldering quality. In our testing, we did not observe any quality issues in either pass-through or capturing. The recorded clips were of solid quality and without any artifacts. Better yet, there was no noticeable lag in my playing experience, even when testing with competitive multiplayer games. On the other hand, the software experience was something I would have wanted improved. While RECentral is capable and generally easy to use, I experienced crashes and hanging while recording. I think AVerMedia has a bit to go to improve their software experience. At the time of the review, the AVerMedia Live Gamer 4K 2.1 GC575 is available for $270, which definitely puts this at the top of their product stack. Compared to the competition, there are other cards that offer more, but also cost more. All in all, if you are looking to capture your console or PC gameplay, the Live Gamer 4K 2.1 GC575 cements itself as a solid option.
