Cooler Master MK770 Review (Page 3 of 3)

Page 3 - Conclusion

It has been difficult trying to keep the Cooler Master MK770 under wraps until now because of how much I have enjoyed using it. To start, we have a whimsical color palette in the Macaron edition of this keyboard. The keycaps also contribute to this busy color scheme. It comes in a 95% form factor, which means we still have the function row, arrow keys, and number pad. I also appreciate the inclusion of a volume wheel at the top. Each switch is hot-swappable with RGB LED lighting underneath for per-key illumination. However, the best thing about the Cooler Master MK770 is only realized when you start typing. Internally, the gasket-mounted structure with foam and silicone inserts removes any unwanted resonance or hollowness. Combined with a plastic backplate, the result is satisfying in both feel and sound. Furthermore, the included pre-lubricated Kailh Box V2 switches offer both key stability and smooth travel for the double-shot PBT keycaps. Cooler Master's MasterPlus+ software gives users many options to modify, but it could be improved for proper font scaling. Even so, the Cooler Master MK770 has some shortcomings, especially in its physical structure. The softer construction means this keyboard and enclosure easily flex under pressure. The lack of a wrist rest is unfortunate, while the battery life on the MK770 is below average. Finally, the lack of indicator lights with the backlight turned off is easily fixable. At the time of the review, the Cooler Master MK770 launches at a price of $120. Given its feature set and capabilities, I still think the Cooler Master MK770 hits more rights than wrongs, and offers a truly enjoyable typing experience.
