Cooler Master MM731 Review (Page 4 of 4)

Page 4 - Conclusion

While I have seen other light mice in the past, I think the Cooler Master MM731 has answered the wireless qualms I have had, as it boasts a very low weight, non-porous body, excellent tracking sensor, all in one wireless package. Starting from the top, its light body feels sturdy and strong. Buttons are placed in a sensible layout without getting in the way and the optical switches offer great tactile and audible feedback. With the latest firmware installed, in video games and technical tests, the PixArt PAW3370 sensor underneath performed remarkably well with only one or two minor flaws. Its tracking was predictable and accurate with only some slight jitter and smoothing at higher sensitivities. Furthermore, its battery life was excellent and not needing a charge after several weeks of usage. I also appreciate the included accessories like its superb Ultraweave cable, wireless extender, and mouse grip tape. The MasterPlus+ utility works well enough, even with a few hiccups like poor interface scaling. In reality, the one thing that could be improved is the firmware update process. Even though users will probably not use it much, it felt forced, janky, and unrefined. I also would have liked to see a more balanced weight distribution to make it easier to pick up the mouse. These small nitpicks really do not take away from what is an excellent ultralight wireless mouse. At the time of the review, the Cooler Master MM731 retails at $90 USD. It may not be a cheap mouse, but it definitely undercuts some competition like the ROCCAT Kone Pro Air in this category. All in all, if you are looking for a light and wireless mouse boasting battery life and performance, the Cooler Master MM731 is a great option.
