Continuing the discussion from the introduction of my Patriot Viper Elite ll DDR4-4000 2x8GB review, what exactly makes for a good movie sequel? I am no film connoisseur by any means, but I would say a good sequel is generally a movie that not only continues the story, but adds to the world, characters, and presents new revelations that make a big impact on the plot. A common sequel people will point to is Terminator 2: Judgement Day. And I absolutely agree -- Terminator 2 is a fantastic film that builds on the story of a robot assassin being sent to the past to eliminate the leader of the human resistance, John Conner. It adds an interesting layer to the story where -- spoiler alert -- the terminator from the first film, who was essentially the main antagonist, has been reprogrammed by the humans to protect John Conner now. This essentially makes it a robot versus robot film, but raises the tension. It also adds an intriguing new layer to the original Terminator, as it starts to become more human-like as the film progresses thanks to its growing friendship with the young John Conner. Without turning this case review into a movie review, I can summarize Terminator 2 as a great sequel because of how it turns up the tension while also exploring the characters in greater detail. Today, we have Corsair’s new 5000D case, which can be seen as a sequel to the 4000D chassis reviewed last year by my colleague Hai. The white version of the 4000D was also reviewed very recently here at APH Networks. Does the Corsair 5000D take the best of the 4000D and improve it with new features? Let us read on to find out!
The Corsair 5000D arrived via UPS Standard from Corsair's offices in California. This box served its purpose of being both the shipping and retail package. While the box itself was not in terrible condition, it was not exactly clean either. Dark scratch marks can be seen on the edges of the front side. There were also some noticeable dents on the top right and bottom left corners. Overall though, the case made it here in one piece. The front of the box contains an image of the case, showing the left and front sides in three-quarters view. The Corsair logo is printed on the upper left side of the box, while the 5000D branding can be seen at the bottom left side just below the case image. Specifications can be found on the side and back for retail customers to view before purchasing.

Two Styrofoam blocks are used to pad the case inside the packaging, which I think is always a very good practice. Along with the Styrofoam blocks, the case itself is wrapped in plastic to prevent it from experiencing any scratches during shipment. The Corsair 5000D arrived in very good condition when I eventually unwrapped it, showing no signs of physical damage anywhere. The case comes with various screws for mounting all the necessary PC components. An additional layer of film is placed over the tempered glass to prevent it from getting scratched in transport. Documentation can also be found inside the case for the user's convenience.
