Corsair Dark Core RGB Pro Review (Page 4 of 4)

Page 4 - Conclusion

Did Corsair do everything right to make a winning mouse in the Corsair Dark Core RGB Pro? If the definition of a winning mouse is a combination of a well-designed shape, powerful sensor, versatile connectivity, quality switches, and enhanced features like RGB lighting effects in 2020, the Dark Core RGB Pro checks all of these boxes. This mouse, in my opinion, has a great shell shape; adding to that is a well-designed texture that provides great grip. Underneath the buttons are quality Omron switches. Speaking of buttons, there is plenty of them, but well-placed so they are not easily pressed accidentally. The Corsair Dark Core RGB Pro can function over both wireless and wired interfaces, where the wireless interface is compatible with Bluetooth and Corsair's proprietary Slipstream protocol for improved performance cord-free. On the wired side, the mouse has -- get this -- a USB Type-C port, which is rare to find even in 2020. Powering the mouse is a battery that provides about 16 hours of battery life with its sweet 9-zone RGB LEDs on. Of course, no gaming mouse is a gaming mouse without a gaming-grade sensor, and the Dark Core RGB Pro is loaded with the state-of-the-art, 18,000 DPI, 2000Hz PixArt PAW3392 sensor that delivers great tracking performance with low lift-off distance. Corsair's excellent iCUE software puts everything together and makes it all work well. Really, there is a lot to like about the Dark Core RGB Pro. In fact, I like it so much, it is now my daily driver. I have one recommendation for improvement though. The battery indicator only turns on when transitioning between power states, so you can never tell its charge status just by looking at it during regular use. I believe this is something that can be resolved on a firmware level. For an MSRP of $80 at press time and most likely will carry a discount at your favorite retailer, the Corsair Dark Core RGB Pro is a lot of mouse for a very reasonable amount of money.
