About AIDA64 Engineer

AIDA64 Engineer has a hardware detection engine unrivaled in its class. It provides detailed information about installed software and offers diagnostic functions and support for overclocking. As it is monitoring sensors in real time, it can gather accurate voltage, temperature and fan speed readings, while its diagnostic functions help detect and prevent hardware issues. It also offers a couple of benchmarks for measuring the performance of individual hardware components or the whole system. It is compatible with all 32-bit and 64-bit Windows editions, including Windows 10 and Windows Server 2016.

As our SSD review benchmark results are presented in alphabetical order, first up on the list is AIDA64 Engineer. AIDA64 Engineer is a fully synthetic benchmark. This means it is not necessarily a direct representation of real-life performance, such as how fast applications start or how fast it takes to start up your operating system. However, it does provide valuable insight into performance between different drives and different controllers.

From our results, the Crucial P5 500GB performed well, but not necessarily near the top of the list. In our linear read tests, the P5 500GB ranked in seventh overall, which is good, but fell behind some budget drives like the Crucial P1 1TB and P2 500GB. On the other hand, this is close to other solid state drives like the Kingston KC2500 1TB. Moving to the random read and buffered read tests, the Crucial P5 ranked eighth and sixth, respectively. Interestingly again, the results were behind the P2 500GB in both tests. The tested random access time was 0.03ms, which is not necessarily the lowest, but still pretty fast. The rest of the comparison results against all the other drives can be seen in our graphs above. While these results are mostly in the middle of the pack, these are still synthetic tests, so we should continue on before drawing conclusions.
