A couple of weeks ago, I attended a play with my girlfriend called "The Mousetrap", which was a murder mystery written by Agatha Christie. Without revealing the actual story, I found the evening to be quite enjoyable. I always like a whodunit and watching it live only elevates the experience. One thing I found interesting was how they were able to create an ambience with their physical set, lighting, and sound effects. For example, when they opened up a window during the daytime, the theater used a cooler white light to show the open window mixed with the snow outside. However, once they closed the window, this lighting changed to a warmer white, which was similar to a candlelight feel. They also used multiple layers in their set despite keeping the whole area static for the most part. They had multiple doors and exit points for the actors and actresses to walk in and out, providing a cohesive feel for the audience while still allowing for a bit more depth in their layout. All in all, I was quite impressed with the execution and I would definitely go again, albeit for a different play. In a similar vein of thinking, when DeepCool announced their ASSASSIN IV cooler, I was quite excited. As this is their newest top-of-the-line air cooler, I was interested in what it would achieve. We have seen strong showings with their AK-lineup of coolers, such as the AK620 Digital. What sort of ambience does this cooler convey? Are there multiple layers of depth to its execution in making it a cohesive product? Let us read on to find out!
Today's review unit of the DeepCool ASSASSIN IV WH arrived from DeepCool's American offices in Rancho Cucamonga, California. Traveling in a relatively large corrugated cardboard box, the DeepCool ASSASSIN IV WH came packaged well with notable amounts of packing material inside to keep everything in good condition. It arrived to our APH Networks offices in Calgary, Alberta in excellent condition.
Taking a look at the retail box of the DeepCool ASSASSIN IV WH, it is very similar in appearance to other DeepCool air coolers, including the aforementioned AK620 Digital. As such, we have the product name printed in block letters, which makes it easy to read. Underneath, we have a tagline which reads "Premium CPU Air Cooler". Finally, we have a scaled down image of the air cooler adorned by two design awards for the current year. We have one from iF and another from Red Dot. These awards are usually given to uniquely designed products, so we will see the reasoning for this when we take a closer look at the cooler. Otherwise, around the box, we have some specifications and features. These are all printed on a sleeve that slides over a more standard cardboard box. A Deepcool logo can be found at the bottom.

Out of the box, the DeepCool ASSASSIN IV WH can be found squished between two black foam segments with cutouts for the heatsink. A separate cardboard box holds all of the accessories for mounting and installing the ASSASSIN IV WH. There are separate bags to hold different equipment for the two major CPU makers as well as some shared equipment, like a grippy L-shaped screwdriver, tube of thermal paste, and a wet wipe to clean off any old thermal grease. According to DeepCool, the ASSASSIN IV WH can be installed on most of the popular sockets, including Intel's LGA2066, LGA2011-v3, LGA2011, LGA1700, LGA1200, LGA1151, LGA1150, and LGA1155, and AMD's AM5 and AM4. This covers basically all of the popular processors in the recent past.
