As a guy who prefers function over form, the Maurus X sure has form, and pairs itself nicely with the function portion of the equation. In terms of aesthetics, I must say Genius GX Gaming has done a great job in presenting consumers and users alike with something that looks good with standard two zone lighting, and matching accents on both sides of the mouse. Obviously, the overall design is based on opinion, but I quite like what Genius has done with the Maurus X. While the looks of the mouse is important, the functionality must also be present. Based on my tests, it performed admirably well in both my office and gaming configurations; delivering great precision and control for practically everything I threw at it. At the end of the day, I have concluded the “X” in Maurus X means eXtended. The rubberized sides and an ergonomic contoured shape gives the user a resting position on the mouse for an extended and more comfortable usage experience. The weight of the mouse contributed to the overall gaming episode by providing users with a heavier mouse that improves precision and control, but may take some time in getting used to. For future Mauruses to come, I would like to see adjustable weights instead of a set weight decided on by the manufacturer. This allows for further customization, and grant perhaps some wishes of consumers who prefer a slightly lighter mouse. At a MSRP of $70, the Maurus X sits in the middle of the price to performance ratio. Although the Maurus X does not light up my world like nobody else, I believe it was made just for me, it was meant to be, and will stay on top of my mousing surfaces for an eXtended period of time.
