Kingston and their gaming brand HyperX has always been excellent in providing a great balance between build quality, performance, and price, and the HyperX Cloud Revolver today is another step in the right direction for them. As they are embarking on developing their own in-house solution to solve the gaming audio market, the headset today shows they are serious and savvy in this area. A physical inspection of the Cloud Revolver already reveals decent build quality throughout; with plastic and metal elements mixed together for a solid outcome. Even better is the excellent comfort levels in wearing these headphones. They are still one of the comfiest I have tried, which results in longer use times without ear fatigue. Even though they moved to a more SteelSeries-like suspended band, the HyperX Cloud Revolvers still kept comfort as a top priority. When it comes to audio performance, the Cloud Revolver builds upon its predecessors, with a good audio signature and sound quality throughout. It is well-balanced and clean, with very little to really fix up in the sound for the price and purpose of this product. Even better is its soundstaging, which has been made even wider, although at the sacrifice of some sound isolation. Personally, this is a tradeoff worth taking, but it may vary from user to user. Otherwise, there is one thing I think Kingston could still look at, which is to suppress the metal resonance sounds produced by the headset during movement. Finally, for price, the Cloud Revolver is currently available for approximately $120 USD. While at launch it is the most expensive Cloud headset, I think the performance and comfort justifies the extra cash. If you already have one of the older HyperX Cloud headsets, this new one might not necessarily be an essential upgrade, but for those looking for a new gaming headset, the HyperX Cloud Revolver is one of the best options around, made even better.
