PCMark 8 Storage Consistency Test is one of our favorite benchmarks. Nowadays, many drives are well optimized for high benchmark scores when they are empty, but what separates the professional players from the amateurs is how it stands up to a truly punishing workload. PCMark 8's Storage Consistency Test is designed exactly for this purpose. Going through five phases -- precondition, degradation, steady state, recovery, and clean up -- to extend beyond real world application simulations, this benchmark takes just over two days to complete, but the results are revealing of a SSD's true capabilities. First, I compared it against the ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro 512GB, which has the same controller. The KC2500 1TB was about 37% faster on average. Next, I compared the KC2500 against the venerable Western Digital Black SN750 NVMe SSD 1TB, resulting in the KC2500 faster by about 12% on average. Lastly, the KC2500 turned out to be about 16% faster than the FireCuda 510 on average. Overall, the Kingston KC2500 1TB is the fastest drive I have ever tested in the most intense SSD test ever.
