About ATTO Disk Benchmark

The ATTO Disk Benchmark performance measurement tool is compatible with Microsoft Windows. Measure your storage systems performance with various transfer sizes and test lengths for reads and writes. Several options are available to customize your performance measurement including queue depth, overlapped I/O and even a comparison mode with the option to run continuously. Use ATTO Disk Benchmark to test any manufacturers RAID controllers, storage controllers, host adapters, hard drives and SSD drives and notice that ATTO products will consistently provide the highest level of performance to your storage.

Our next set of tests are the usual ATTO read and write tests. ATTO is an often-quoted benchmark because it is easy to use and accurate. For the most part, it is a favorite among reviewers and I have grown to embrace it as much as the next for the last little while. ATTO uses easily compressible data, so compression-heavy controllers will perform very well here.

The Lexar NQ780 4TB hit peak speeds of 6200MB/s write and 6970MB/s read. These numbers were around the write and read speeds of 6000MB/s and 7000MB/s, respectively. Under the write curves, the NQ780 4TB was quite slow to reach its peak speed, being surpassed by other drives in packets of 128KB or less. The NQ780 4TB was able to plateau near its peak write speed at 512KB transfer size, and it reached its peak at 8MB transfer size. In the read curves, we had an even poorer performance, with a notably slower transfer from 32KB to 1MB. In fact, there is a large delta between this and the next slowest competitor, the PLAY 2280, in this whole region. I am not too sure why we observe this behavior, but the NQ780 4TB shows its weakness here.
