About ATTO Disk Benchmark

The ATTO Disk Benchmark performance measurement tool is compatible with Microsoft Windows. Measure your storage systems performance with various transfer sizes and test lengths for reads and writes. Several options are available to customize your performance measurement including queue depth, overlapped I/O and even a comparison mode with the option to run continuously. Use ATTO Disk Benchmark to test any manufacturers RAID controllers, storage controllers, host adapters, hard drives and SSD drives and notice that ATTO products will consistently provide the highest level of performance to your storage.

Following up next is our usual ATTO read and write tests. ATTO is an often-quoted benchmark, because it is easy to use and accurate. For the most part, it is a favorite among reviewers. ATTO uses easily compressible data, so compression-heavy controllers will perform well here. As manufacturer peak read and write performance ratings are usually achieved using ATTO, whether a drive lives up to its marketing claims or not can be validated by this program. Patriot provides maximum read and write numbers of 530MB/s and 460MB/s, respectively. According to our tests, these numbers were quite conservative, as we saw peak read speeds of 564MB/s and write speeds of 519MB/s. Even so, compared to the other SATA drives we have, these numbers were in the middle of the pack. In terms of write ramp-up, the Patriot P200 512GB was once again quite average. At the smallest packet sizes, the write ramp-up was faster than the BX500 960GB, but slower than the 480GB variant. In this same range, the Patriot P200 512GB was faster than the Gigabyte UD PRO 256GB, but slightly slower than the SATA version of the Kingston UV500 240GB. As for read ramp-up, the P200 512GB did not compare as favorably here with a slower ramp-up than most of the aforementioned drives. Overall, the results from ATTO were average, placing near the middle compared to all of the drives.
