I often have a bad habit of underestimating myself or focusing on the negative aspects of myself over the positive ones. For example, my colleague Jonathan would say that I have beaten him several times in foosball before, but I would not consider them victories. This is partly because I would not count single games as beating him, especially if I ended up losing the second and third game in a best-of-three. I also do not consider myself that great at foosball, but I know a few things from when I played back in a former office. In a similar vein, I also have been trying to learn to sing harmonies in songs. Once again, I do not really know what I am doing, but I just try to sing something that does not strain my voice while not sounding awful. Some might call it harmonizing, but I call it being a lazy singer, haha. I do not advertise my singing abilities, but there is some merit in calling it what it is. Altogether, it is better to be accurate when describing your abilities rather than being overly modest or prideful. Today, we have another set of RAM from Patriot in the form of their Viper Venom RGB DDR5-7000 2x16GB kit. Patriot has touted this as performance memory that has "extraordinary speed" and was "crafted to perfection". We have seen other sets of Viper Venom DDR5 in both DDR5-7200 and RGB DDR5-6200 a couple of years back. Are Patriot's claims still accurate, or are they a bit too ambitious? Let us read on to find out!
Today's review unit of the Patriot Viper Venom RGB DDR5-7000 2x16GB kit arrived from Patriot's offices out in Fremont, California. Traveling with UPS and their Expedited service, this box arrived at our APH Networks location here in Calgary, Alberta in excellent condition. The corrugated brown cardboard box had no signs of wear or tear on the container to be concerned about. Inside, Patriot has packed both the Viper Venom RGB and the Viper Elite 5, which I will also be reviewing later.
As you can see, the Patriot Viper Venom RGB DDR5-7000 retail container looks the same as the other RGB kit that we have seen before, which makes for an eye-catching design. The box is large for a set of memory. I do like seeing this cardboard box rather than a blister pack, as it means you have a reusable container. The black background is clean, but the front has many different graphics. Most of this front is filled with a photo of the dual channel kit, while the Viper Gaming logo is at the top, and the product name is on the bottom. On the upper right corner, you will find a label indicating the capacity, configuration, and transfer rate. Our variant is the RGB version, but a regular version without any lights is also available. If you want to see the actual set of memory included, two cutout windows reveal the product inside.
Before we continue, I have grabbed the features and specifications from the manufacturer's website for your perusal:

Out of the box, you will see the kit of Patriot Viper Venom RGB DDR5-7000 2x16GB packaged in its own compartment in a transparent plastic clamshell. Unfortunately, we no longer receive a Viper Gaming sticker, although I do not think many will care too much about this omission. There is nothing else included with this kit of memory, but I would be more surprised if we got something else.
A screenshot of the memory tab in CPU-Z with Patriot's Viper Venom RGB DDR5-7000 2x16GB installed. The SPD timings table in CPU-Z reads standard JEDEC specifications programmed into the memory as well as XMP data for running the memory at various speeds. Our ASUS ProArt X870E-Creator WiFi motherboard used for testing had no issues detecting and working with the Viper Venom RGB RAM right out of the box using the latest BIOS revision. The Patriot Viper Venom RGB DDR5-7000 2x16GB retails for approximately $115 at press time.
