ROCCAT Sense Core, CTRL, Pro Review (Page 4 of 4)

Page 4 - Conclusion

When we look at the Sense family, it is quite clear that ROCCAT wanted to cover all of their bases, providing speed, control, or a balance of both, in the lineup. All of them are made well with a different surface on top of a grippy rubber base to provide a strong foundation. Starting with the most economical Sense Core, this pad balances between glide and control nicely. The more premium Sense CTRL and Sense Pro are two surfaces on opposing sides when it comes to control and glide, respectively. These two pads let users choose between the type of surface they want, whether it is a coarser vulcanized surface for better handling or a polished-like military-grade material for faster movement. In either case, both have nice touches like low-profile, fully braided edges to prevent fraying and more water-resistant tops for easier cleanup in the event of accidents or spills around your desk. The overall low-profile of all of these pads means the mouse is not lifted off your table too high, but still does a good job in noise suppression. In retrospect, the one feature I wish all of these pads shared are the braided edges for durability, as this was omitted from the Sense Core. As for the retail pricing, the Sense Core is available from Mini to XXL size, ranging in prices of $7 to $20, which is quite wallet-friendly. On the other hand, the premium pricing of the ROCCAT Sense CTRL and Sense Pro show as the Square and XXL are priced at $30 and $50, respectively. These cost notably more than some other mousing surfaces, but it is not too unreasonable either for a high performance mouse pad. Overall, I am quite pleased with all three in the ROCCAT Sense lineup, as they all offer good performance and tracking, and lets users decide their pad based on their preferences.
