About ATTO Disk Benchmark

The ATTO Disk Benchmark performance measurement tool is compatible with Microsoft Windows. Measure your storage systems performance with various transfer sizes and test lengths for reads and writes. Several options are available to customize your performance measurement including queue depth, overlapped I/O and even a comparison mode with the option to run continuously. Use ATTO Disk Benchmark to test any manufacturers RAID controllers, storage controllers, host adapters, hard drives and SSD drives and notice that ATTO products will consistently provide the highest level of performance to your storage.

Following up next is our usual ATTO read and write tests. ATTO is an often quoted benchmark, because it is easy to use and accurate. For the most part, it is a favorite among reviewers, and I have grown to embrace it as much as the next for the last little while. ATTO uses easily compressible data, so SandForce based SSDs will perform very well here; as far as the Marvell 88SS9190 is concerned -- well, here are our results. As manufacturer peak read and write performance ratings are usually obtained using ATTO, whether a drive lives up to its marketing claims or not can be validated by this program. SanDisk claims the Ultra II 240GB's maximum read and maximum write are pinned at 550MB/s and 500MB/s, respectively. According to our tests, these numbers are almost bang on. It peaked at 556.663MB/s read and 512.525MB/s write in the curves demonstrated in our charts above, which was faster than the OCZ ARC 100 and Crucial MX100 literally across the entire curve, with some areas having bigger gaps than others. Under the curve, its average write speed from the very beginning is very competitive; cracking the 300MB/s+ mark in write at 4K and above. As far as read is concerned, it was no different; reaching 85% of peak starting at 32K. This also represents a significant improvement over its predecessor, the SanDisk Ultra Plus 256GB, which we have also tested here at APH Networks.
