SilverStone Hydrogon D120 ARGB Review (Page 4 of 4)

Page 4 - Conclusion

Hiking poles have made quite the difference when getting up and especially coming down large mountains. Similarly, the SilverStone Hydrogon D120 ARGB did quite a bit when it came to cooling my CPU. The Hydrogon D120 ARGB performed very well, beating the Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML240 Illusion, which was already an impressive cooler. The noise output is about what you would expect from a dual-fan cooler, which is to say it is not the quietest, although it is also not deafening by any means. The RGB fans shine through with bright and vibrant colors that catch the eye with good visual appeal. This only gets better with customization of the colors thanks to the RGB being controllable by your motherboard software. The build quality is also solid, with a dual tower and fan combination that surprisingly weighs little. Installing the cooler was a breeze with no trouble at all, and the dimensions and design of the cooler gives it wide compatibility. While it is nice to not have to worry about RAM clearance space with the Hydrogon D120, the lack of airflow between the contact base and first cooling fin does take away from some cooling potential. Furthermore, while the raw silver color scheme of the heatsink is pragmatic, the finish is a bit outdated compared to newer all-black coolers in a tempered glass chassis. That said, at a retail price of $75 USD, I would say you are getting a great deal for a solid cooler with the SilverStone Hydrogon D120 ARGB, given the Noctua NH-D15S chromax.black comes with only one fan and costs $90.
