SilverStone TP04 Review (Page 4 of 4)

Page 4 - Conclusion

If you are considering building a high-performance desktop computer, obviously your first task is to look for high performance parts. A part of that task is to ensure these high-performance components are kept cool. If your M.2 SSD or motherboard with a PCIe 4.0 NVMe slot does not come with a heatsink, SilverStone's TP04 SSD heatsink is a solid choice. There are three main reasons. Firstly, the SilverStone TP04 is very effective in terms bringing down the SSD operating temperature. When an SSD is under a high load, the TP04 can keep the SSD cool to ensure performance without throttling and long-term reliability. Secondly, the installation of this product is virtually tool-free. We can easily clip the heatsink on to the bottom case without messing with screws using a screwdriver. It is true that we eventually need to use a screwdriver to install the SSD onto the motherboard, but that is really the only screw we need to worry about for this whole procedure. On a somewhat related note, the SilverStone TP04 comes with two pairs of thermal pads to accommodate SSDs that are single or double-sided, which is great. Last but not least, the SilverStone TP04 has very good build quality. Although it is a rather simple product, but I can definitely say all the parts are made out of a high-quality material. The only potential tradeoff is you need to watch to make sure your SSD with the TP04 installed clears all nearby components. Now, let us take a look at the price. Remember in the introduction that I mentioned a high-performance product should also come with a reasonable price? In this case, the SilverStone TP04 costs about $17 USD at press time. For the cost of two McDonald's Double Big Mac meals, you can keep your SSD cool for years to come in a quality package. How awesome is that?
