Page 4 - Conclusion
Now that we have seen and tested the SteelSeries Arctis Pro, I can safely say SteelSeries has implemented an amazing full-featured headset, but there is still some room for growth. Starting at the top, the Arctis Pro headset is a very well built headset made up of excellent materials. Its redesigned suspended headband, plush ear cups, and lightweight all make for a comfortable headset. The GameDAC unit was quite useful with features like ChatMix and equalization at your fingertips. I have praised the SteelSeries Utility Engine to no end in the past and I still think it is the number one application to come with any sort of peripheral. The fact it makes an aesthetic piece like RGB lighting into a functional one just shows the thought and care put into the software. In terms of audio performance, the Arctis Pro does the necessary things right with a gaming-oriented V-shaped sound signature. It is capable of producing sounds with good characteristics and detail in all regions. The well rounded bass is complemented well by the bright trebles. However, the audio performance is also where some work can be done. There is a bit of dryness in the upper end, with some clash here, too. In addition, the output sometimes felt messy when there were many voices. There also were a few things I would have liked to see changed with how the headset operated with the operating system, as well as making the volume wheel on the Arctis Pro a bit more resistant. At the end of the day, SteelSeries produced a very capable headset for handling gaming situations. At a price tag of $249 USD, the SteelSeries Arctis Pro + GameDAC is not the cheapest of gaming audio solutions, but it definitely is well-implemented, which makes it worth the look.
