Page 4 - Conclusion
Has SteelSeries finally perfected the art of creating the best headset for both gaming and music? Well, not exactly; but I am far from being disappointed by the H Wireless. In fact, I am very impressed by the fact it delivers on what it promises to do. On the physical level, the SteelSeries H Wireless is simply a beautiful piece of hardware. The headset is very refined in visual appeal, assembly quality, and material selection; making it a pleasure to use in the real world, without making you look like a stereotypical geek. It is also loaded with convenient headset controls and even direct input for those who want to use it with wires. On the other end, we have the wireless transceiver; a slick looking device that features a vast array of inputs and a great OLED screen. Put them together, and they work together just flawlessly. But the good news does not stop here. Features like Chat Mix and Live Mix is the icing on the cake, but the real meat of it is its gaming performance is simply incredible in every metric. In fact, seven years after we have reviewed the SteelSound 5H V2, I must reiterate the line that sums this all up in a single sentence -- "If you have some good instincts plus great hearing with these headphones, it makes wallhacks obsolete. Yeah, that's right, it's what we call 'cheating' without cheats." This applies more than ever to the SteelSeries H Wireless' incredible soundstaging and imaging capabilities. Combined with its low latency performance, great battery life per charge, and the fact that it comes with two batteries, this headset provides all the benefits of wireless freedom with none of the shortcomings. As far as the audio performance is concerned in our subjective listening tests, generally speaking, the SteelSeries H Wireless performs well, but it definitely can be better. I am not going to reiterate stuff I have said on the previous page, but a good rule of thumb is, this is a gaming oriented product that will play your music with reasonable quality, unless you are a picky audiophile. For about $300 at press time, the SteelSeries H Wireless does not come cheap. But if you are looking for the best wireless headset to game with, and can still play a bit of music in the background, don't bother wasting your time looking at anything else -- this is the one to buy.
