Thermaltake TOUGHRAM XG RGB D5 DDR5-5600 2x16GB Review (Page 10 of 10)

Page 10 - Overclocking and Conclusion

The Thermaltake TOUGHRAM XG RGB D5 DDR5-5600 2x16GB has relatively modest specifications, but the company promises great performance and overclocking potential with its 10-layer PCB and 2 oz copper inner layer. How well did it stack up? As far as overclocking is concerned, I bumped the voltage from 1.25V to 1.35V, loosened the timings to 38-38-38-78, and hit an impressive DDR5-6400, Prime95 stable. This represented a 14.3% overclock, transforming a relatively modest RAM kit to one with rather fast specifications. The TOUGHRAM XG RGB D5 DDR5-5600 is the most overclockable DDR5 memory we have ever reviewed here at APH Networks. Of course, your mileage may vary, as every individual sample is going to scale slightly differently. But regardless of how high the clocks can go up, our tests showed that, at least with current 13th generation Intel CPUs, there was not much performance difference in the real world with the DDR5-5600 RAM we are reviewing today compared to the two DDR5-7200 RAM on the charts. What the TOUGHRAM XG RGB D5 also offers is its unique and attractive heatspreader design along with the RGB LED lighting you have come to expect in 2023. As always, it comes with a lifetime warranty. The company asks for a whopping $230 at press time, which is way more than the $150 Patriot Viper Venom DDR5-7200 2x16GB. Sure, the Viper Venom DDR5-7200 does not have RGB LEDs, but even the RGB version is only $170 when writing this review. All in all, there is a lot to like about the Thermaltake TOUGHRAM XG RGB D5 DDR5-5600 2x16GB, but it does come with a bit of a sticker shock.

The Thermaltake TOUGHRAM XG RGB D5 DDR5-5600 2x16GB RAM offers solid performance, great looks, and awesome overclocking results, but the price needs to be lowered to make it more in line with the competition.
