TP-Link Archer GX90 Review (Page 5 of 5)

Page 5 - Conclusion

Did the TP-Link Archer GX90 live up to its impressive resume of having 8 antennas, 2.5 Gbps port, and a 1.5 GHz quad core CPU for performance-demanding gamers? This time around, I will give you a straight up answer. The answer is yes. The Archer GX90 is a seriously fast router. Its peak download numbers of 817.02Mbps, while never dipping below 531.59Mbps at any of our test locations, is impressive to say the least. But once you dig into the details, the picture gets better. This router's performance is unmatched by any other Wi-Fi 6 router we have ever tested here at APH Networks, delivering solid long-range performance and excellent non-light-of-sight wall penetration power. You will not be disappointed if you are looking for next level wireless performance. The stock software is also reasonably powerful, feature loaded, and intuitive to use for consumers and power users alike. One key change the company can make on this router is to include more than one 2.5Gbps WAN/LAN port. With a single 2.5Gbps port, it is not that useful in practice, since all the other wired connections are still limited to 1Gbps and hitting speeds faster than 1Gbps over Wi-Fi is unlikely in real life. Having more LAN ports in general like the Archer C5400X will also be nice. Other than that, the GX90, similar to the C5400X, is a big router than runs hot with non-adjustable antennas. But given how fast the GX90 is, I think these are fair compromises. I can only find this router in Canada for now, but for about $300 CAD at press time -- or about $240 USD -- the TP-Link Archer GX90 offers some shockingly fast Wi-Fi 6 performance at a surprisingly low price.
