It has been over one and a half years since I reviewed the V-MODA Crossfade Wireless, and if you held out this long on buying some of the best headphones in the market, the Crossfade II Wireless is indeed the second chance you have been waiting for. But the Crossfade II Wireless is not just a second chance for those who has never owned the Crossfade Wireless. Ever since I got the original Crossfade Wireless, it has been my favorite headphones I use whenever I travel; accompanying me to everything from flying fourteen hours to Hong Kong or commuting on the train to work if I decide not to drive that morning. But even if the Crossfade Wireless is as good as everyone makes it out to be, the Crossfade II Wireless takes sonic excellence to a whole new level. Sure, the frequency response is not totally flat -- I get it. But with its sound signature that presents a much more balanced output that is still bright and fun to listen to, the Crossfade II Wireless will surely appeal to those who want the best to enjoy their music. This is not the main point though. Listen to its soundstage. It is a massive improvement. V-MODA has done it again. If the Crossfade Wireless were the headphones to beat in 2015, the Crossfade II Wireless raises the bar considerably in 2017. Its construction quality is unmatched. They are foldable. It is both wired and wireless. If there is anything there is to improve on, it will be the Bluetooth codec support. Only the rose gold version has aptX support, and none of them have aptX HD support. But if that is all the fault I can find in this $330 pair of headphones, the V-MODA Crossfade II Wireless is truly a superstar to behold.
It has not only been one and a half years since I reviewed the Crossfade Wireless. It has also been almost three years since I reviewed the venerable XS. The XS was the record holder for the highest score ever awarded to a product here at APH Networks. Today, it is time for it to vacate the seat and make way for the new king: The V-MODA Crossfade II Wireless.
