Western Digital Black SN750 NVMe SSD 1TB Review (Page 11 of 11)

Page 11 - Conclusion

Did playing it safe bring Western Digital another successful product in the solid state drive market with the Black SN750 NVMe SSD 1TB? I would say so. The Western Digital Black NVMe SSD 1TB was already one of the highest performing solid state drives on the market when it was released, and from our array of benchmarks, it looked like the updated firmware gave the new SN750 a needed performance boost in some areas of weaknesses identified in the outgoing model. The SN750 1TB remained to be a Tier 1 performance drive; falling behind in just one test in Crystal Disk Mark. Otherwise, it claimed many wins across the board from the relatively easy ATTO Disk Benchmark to our infamously challenging PCMark 8 Storage Consistency test. What remains to be the same, however, are the many great things about the original Black NVMe SSD. The Western Digital Black SN750 NVMe SSD 1TB is still relatively power efficient, comes with an excellent five year warranty from the company, and boasts a mind boggling 600TBW write endurance. Despite increased performance and no change in everything else, Western Digital has given us one more thing from the wonders of capitalism: A reduced price in the midst of stiff competition. What is not to like about this drive? For less than $230 at press time, the Western Digital Black SN750 NVMe SSD 1TB is a seriously fast SSD with a ton of capacity to store pretty much everything you need to store on a regular basis. If change can bring unexpected consequences, playing it safe may be the best way to go as Western Digital has shown us.
