About AIDA64 Engineer

AIDA64 Engineer has a hardware detection engine unrivaled in its class. It provides detailed information about installed software and offers diagnostic functions and support for overclocking. As it is monitoring sensors in real time, it can gather accurate voltage, temperature and fan speed readings, while its diagnostic functions help detect and prevent hardware issues. It also offers a couple of benchmarks for measuring the performance of individual hardware components or the whole system. It is compatible with all 32-bit and 64-bit Windows editions, including Windows 10 and Windows Server 2016.

Since our SSD review benchmark results are presented in alphabetical order, first up on the list are results from one of our favorite benchmarking programs, AIDA64 Engineer. Just to note, AIDA64 Engineer is a full synthetic benchmark. This means it is not necessarily a direct representation of real life performance, such as how fast applications start or how fast it takes to start up your operating system. However, it does provide valuable insight into performance between different drives and different controllers. As you can see in our graphs above, the Western Digital Blue SN500 NVMe SSD 500GB performed as well as you would expect for a M.2 NVMe PCIe x2 drive. In the linear read test, the SN500 500GB was very similar to the Gigabyte M.2 PCIe SSD, while better than the Toshiba RC100. Continuing to the random and buffered read tests, the SN500 placed near the bottom of all the drives, which was still generally better than the other two aforementioned drives. On the other hand, because the Crucial P1 500GB utilizes four lanes, it achieved much higher numbers. The tested random access time was 0.02ms, which was tied for the lowest among all the drives. The rest of the comparison results against all the other drives can be seen in our graphs above.
