About ATTO Disk Benchmark

The ATTO Disk Benchmark performance measurement tool is compatible with Microsoft Windows. Measure your storage systems performance with various transfer sizes and test lengths for reads and writes. Several options are available to customize your performance measurement including queue depth, overlapped I/O and even a comparison mode with the option to run continuously. Use ATTO Disk Benchmark to test any manufacturers RAID controllers, storage controllers, host adapters, hard drives and SSD drives and notice that ATTO products will consistently provide the highest level of performance to your storage.

Following up next are our usual ATTO read and write tests. ATTO is an often-quoted benchmark because it is easy to use and accurate. For the most part, it is a favorite among reviewers, and I have grown to embrace it as much as the next for the last little while. ATTO uses easily compressible data, so compression-heavy controllers will perform very well here.

As far as the Silicon Motion SM2508 controller on the Mars 980 Blade 2TB is concerned, well, here are our results. The XPG Mars 980 Blade 2TB peaked at 11600MB/s read and 11870MB/s write. Under the read curve, it was back-and-forth against the SN8100 until 256K. After that, the gap between the T710 and SN8100 closed, while the Mars 980 Blade stayed behind.

Under the write curve, we saw a similar pattern as the read curve with the XPG Mars 980 Blade 2TB. The Mars 980 Blade and SN8100 traded punches until 64K. What was surprising was the XPG Mars 980 2TB's wide gap between the Crucial and Sandisk drives between 64K and 2048K. Overall, the XPG Mars 980 Blade 2TB's performance was great on its own, but it had trouble keeping up against flagship drives from other manufacturers.
