What has changed in the last 16 years? I would say the world has changed quite a bit since 2010. At the time, I was just an undergraduate engineering student barely passing my classes, still living with my parents, and drove a Honda Civic. The S&P 500 was around 1100, and the median house price in Calgary was $400,000. APH Networks was five years old, and our editorial team had five people. We worked with about 70 manufacturers, publishing approximately 200 reviews. Today, our editorial team, excluding guest writers, has eight people, and we have worked with over 180 manufacturers for more than 1600 reviews. One manufacturer we tried working with back in 2010 was ENERMAX. Unfortunately, they were unable to send us any products back then, because we were based in Canada. I did not quite understand exactly why that was the case, since typically USA and Canada have always been considered basically one region, but I just moved on and forgot about it. However, recently, ENERMAX reached out to see if we were interested in covering their latest models. Indeed, something has changed in the last 16 years, because they are now able to send to Canada. So to mark this occasion, let us kick off our first ever ENERMAX product review here at APH Networks -- after being in the industry for 21 years and covering 126 power supplies since 2006 -- to see what they have in store for us. Read on to find out more!
Our review unit of the ENERMAX PlatimaxII 1200DF 1200W arrived in a medium-sized brown corrugated cardboard box from the company's American headquarters in Chino, California, USA alongside the ENERMAX Revolution III S 1000W, which I will look at in the coming weeks. Using FedEx International Connect Plus, our PlatimaxII 1200DF arrived in excellent condition to us here in Calgary, Alberta, Canada for our review today.
Inside the shipping box is the ENERMAX PlatimaxII 1200DF 1200W's retail box. The environmentally friendly -- or economically friendly, depending on your perspective -- brown corrugated cardboard box only has ENERMAX's logos printed in red ink. As you can see in our photo, all the real content is located on a removable card stock band. The band has the PlatimaxII 1200DF branding in silver on the left, and a photo of the power supply in three-quarter view is on the right. In the middle, an array of six badges highlights its certifications, including 80 Plus Platinum, ATX 3.1, PCIe 5.1, Cybenetics Platinum 230V, Cybenetics Platinum, and Cybenetics Lambda A. At the back, there are more feature highlights and a specifications table. The remaining two sides have miscellaneous content such as regulatory icons and a referral to ENERMAX's website in various languages.
Before we move on, let us take a look at the specifications of the ENERMAX PlatimaxII 1200DF 1200W, as obtained from the manufacturer's website:

The ENERMAX PlatimaxII 1200DF 1200W's retail package can be opened by a flap along the bottom. Upon opening the box, you will find everything neatly organized inside. The power supply is securely clipped between two foam brackets. Out of the box, you will receive the PlatimaxII 1200DF power supply itself in a Velcro bag, modular cables and AC power cable in another Velcro bag, four screws, four zip ties, and a product manual. The bundle is minimalistic, but everything is presented well and appropriate for a PSU of this class.
