Thermaltake Toughpower GF1 1000W Report

If there is anything mildly interesting when working with university students, it would be watching guys awkwardly trying to go after girls. Some of these stories can be found in the introductions of my Fractal Design Define 7 Dark Tempered Glass and Kingston KC2500 1TB reviews. A lot of guys will end up complaining about how women are impossible to understand, and while it is often hard to understand women, if you look at the anecdotes that I gave, I will argue in these cases it is the sole responsibility of the male species. The reason is because the guys described have lots of room to learn about social competence even if they do not believe in the idea that there are girls out of their league. Recently, I got my hands on Thermaltake's new Toughpower GF1 1000W power supply. It has been almost a decade since I last took apart a kilowatt unit from the company, with the last one being the Toughpower XT Platinum 1275W, but the Toughpower brand remains. However, the latest model is called the GF1, which is an uncommon combination of letters in the computer world. I could not find anything on the product page indicating what "GF" stands for, so I will stick with the only definition I know, which is "girlfriend". This got me thinking. A PSU may not be your girlfriend, but does the name imply something about this product? Is it within reach? Can we understand what is inside? And most importantly, is it something you should get? Read on to find out!

Our review unit of the Thermaltake Toughpower GF1 1000W arrived in a medium-sized brown corrugated cardboard box from the company's American headquarters in City of Industry, California, USA. Using UPS Standard, our Toughpower GF1 1000W arrived in excellent condition to us here in Calgary, Alberta, Canada for our review today.

Inside the shipping box is the Thermaltake Toughpower GF1 1000W's retail box. It features a black background with white text along with various shades of grey for a clean and reserved look. A photo of the power supply itself is shown prominently in three-quarters view. Thermaltake's logo is printed at the top left corner, while the Toughpower GF1 branding, 1000W rating, and 80 Plus Gold badge is seen along the bottom. An arrays of stickers show off its features such as its ultra-quiet hydraulic bearing fan, Smart Zero Fan, low ripple noise, fully modular flat cables, 100% Japanese capacitors, and 10-year warranty. The remaining sides have a little more detail in presentation, which you will find more photos, feature highlights, performance graphs, and specifications.
