Corsair iCUE Link LX120 RGB Review

Recently, I found myself in a frustrating situation when the door control module of my car malfunctioned, rendering the car doors difficult to operate. Hoping for a quick fix, I reached out to the dealership to order a replacement part, only to be informed that the module was on backorder with an estimated wait time of ten weeks. Ten weeks! The reason behind this extensive delay is the ongoing global shortage of electronic components, a consequence of supply chain disruptions and increased demand that have affected industries worldwide. It is incredible how even a relatively simple car part has become subject to this shortage, reflecting just how deeply electronic components are embedded in everything around us -- from essential car modules to the gadgets and appliances we use daily. This predicament really puts into perspective the complexity and interconnectedness of modern technology. As for today's review unit, the Corsair iCUE Link LX120 RGB cooling fan pack, it has as many electronic components as one can possibly fit into a fan. Is it a good cooling fan pack with the help of those electronics? Let us read on and find out!

The Corsair iCUE Link LX120 RGB fans that arrived for our review were delivered in a medium-sized brown corrugated cardboard box from a distribution warehouse located in Fontana, California, USA, not far from the company's US headquarters in Fremont, California, USA. The box showed no clear signs of damage upon its arrival here in Calgary, Alberta, Canada via UPS Saver. The shipping box was a bit too big for just three 120mm fans, so there must be something else in the box as well. As it turned out, there were two identical packs of Corsair iCUE Link LX120 RGB fans, which, of course, I will review one of the packs, since they are the same thing.

Those familiar with Corsair's latest products will quickly identify the retail packaging of the Corsair iCUE Link LX120 RGB fans. Corsair maintains brand uniformity by utilizing a consistent packaging design throughout its product range. The box showcases a mainly yellow color scheme, accented with black stripes along the sides. Dominating the front of the box is a prominent three-quarter angle image of the fans, corresponding to the number included in this fan pack. Corsair's logo is placed at the top, while the model name is displayed vertically on the right side, along with an indication these are starter kits. The remaining sides of the box feature additional highlights and specifications of the product.

Before digging into the rest of the review, let us take a look at the specifications of the Corsair iCUE Link LX120 RGB fans, as borrowed from the manufacturer's website:

The middle fan among the three comes packaged with a yellow cardboard sleeve featuring a QR code that directs you to the setup manual. Corsair has also included paper documents covering warranty, safety, and compliance information.
