Last month, I quit my job and accepted a position at my previous place of employment. However, I decided to end my time in the middle of the week. As a result, it was the first time in nine years that I was unemployed, even if only for a short period. I did not make any plans for those three days. Two weeks before, when I handed in my resignation letter, everyone asked if I would take a couple of weeks off for a break. Personally, I knew I would get restless quickly, but it did not become apparent until I was in the middle of the break. While this pause was probably still beneficial, I felt quite bored after the first day off. It was not as if I was lazy, as I was able to get a few things done in closing of my previous job and in preparation of my new one. However, there is something familiar about being in a constant work routine. Some may hate the "nine-to-five" grind, but it has become the norm for me, and I am quite comfortable with it. Similarly, the Corsair K70 PRO TKL comes from the well-known Corsair K70 family. In fact, we have reviewed four different Corsair K70 keyboards, including the most recent Core. However, each model has had its own unique aspects even though they share the same lineage. For example, today's K70 PRO TKL is the first Hall effect keyboard from Corsair that we have reviewed. What similarities and differences will we see? Let us read on to find out!
Today's review unit of the Corsair K70 PRO TKL arrived from a distribution center in San Bernardino, California, presumably leased by Corsair. It was shipped via UPS using their Worldwide Saver service and delivered to our APH Networks location in Calgary, Alberta. The box arrived in excellent condition, with no scratches or dents to be concerned about. Both sides were sealed with Kraft paper packing tape, and Corsair included extra packing bubbles inside to protect the contents from damage.
The retail container of the Corsair K70 PRO TKL is compact in size. It maintains Corsair's signature black-and-yellow color scheme, giving it a familiar look while still feeling fresh and new. On the top, there is a Corsair logo with a tagline of "Worlds Ahead" beneath it. The product name is found on the opposite corner. In the center, there is a scaled down image of the keyboard, illuminated by its bright RGB LED backlighting. To the left, we have the compatible devices listed here, including PC, Mac, Xbox, and PlayStation. Not all users may think about connecting their keyboards to their consoles, but it is a neat feature to see. At the bottom, a bilingual descriptor in English and French states, "TKL Hall Effect Programmable Keyboard". On the bottom right corner, a label highlights the inclusion of Rapid Trigger Mode, a standard feature for Hall effect keyboards, as we will explore later. On the back, additional features and specifications of the K70 PRO TKL are detailed.
Before we continue, I have grabbed the specifications from the manufacturer's website for your perusal:

Out of the box, I was immediately impressed with the recyclable or reusable materials used to pack the Corsair K70 PRO TKL. The keyboard is wrapped in a paper material that feels like a combination of vellum, parchment, and tissue paper. This makes the paper a bit more durable. Next, there is a smaller wrapped bundle containing the wrist rest. Finally, there is a 1.8m USB Type-C to Type-A rubber cable, which Corsair claims is tangle free. During my use, it has remained untangled so far. Lastly, a small amount of documentation is included, covering warranty and safety information. The Corsair K70 PRO TKL comes with a standard two-year warranty.
