Razer announces a ‘gold’ Razer Phone that’s gold in logo only

From The Verge: 2018 is the Year of the Dog on the Chinese calendar, and Razer is celebrating the Spring Festival by greeting it with a special edition of the Razer Phone. Once you get past the fancier red packaging, however, you’ll have to look really closely to recognize what’s different about this phone. It’s supposed to be a “gold” Razer Phone, but the only thing that’s changed is the outline of Razer’s three-headed snake logo on the back of the device. You do also get some rather exclusive gold-tinted Razer stickers in the package, though there’s no hard confirmation on whether the oranges pictured come bundled as well.

The Razer Phone was launched late last year under the tagline of being the smartphone designed for and by gamers, but it proved a disappointment. This limited run of Gold Edition Razer Phones isn’t going to do anything to improve the user experience, but it might enhance the exclusivity factor — if passersby look closely enough to notice the gold logo. Still priced at $699.99, the supposedly gold (but still mostly black) Razer Phone can be purchased today at 3 (the mobile carrier) Hong Kong stores, and online at Razer Store Hong Kong and Razer Store US.
