New Android Market Glitch Ripping Off Developers

From DailyTech: If you've ever wanted a paid app from the Android Market but decided otherwise because of the price tag, you might now have a chance to sneak it for free. You'll just have to part with your shame, good karma, and any respect you might have for developers.

According to Phandroid, the Android Market is being plagued by a glitch in Google Checkout that allows paid apps to be picked up for free.

Typically, a user who buys a paid app receives a confirmation email from Google stating that his or her credit card has been charged. But a flurry of developers are reporting that they're not receiving payment; the transaction shows "Charged" and allows the download, but never processes the purchase. After authorization expires on the purchase, the developer can't go back and charge for the purchase. The freeloading downloader gets away without dropping a dime.

Developers have cited the issue in droves on Google Checkout's forums and the forum for Android Market. The glitch seems to have begun as early as April 25.
