Game Developers to Evaluate Next-Gen Microsoft Xbox Game Console - Rumours

From X-bit Labs: A market rumour suggests that large developers of video games, particularly Electronic Arts, have already received early prototypes of Microsoft Corp.'s next-generation video game system. The information vastly contradicts to earlier facts that pointed to the initiation of Xbox "Next" development earlier this year.

The successor to the Xbox 360 console is currently evaluated by an unnamed game design studio that belongs to Electronic Arts, according to Develop web-site, which cites senior, trusted, well-placed source. EA reportedly received the systems back in April. At present, it is said, the hardware is installed inside typical computer cases.

“Quite often when new consoles come around they’re packaged into a PC shell, but actually what’s inside is an entirely new console,” the source, which is claimed not to be an employee of Microsoft or Electronics Arts, reportedly said.

"This story is a total fabrication – 100% not true," said Jeff Brown, a spokesman for Electronic Arts, reports Industry Gamers web-site.

It is pretty clear that Microsoft is developing its next-generation Xbox game system. Earlier this year Microsoft advertised new job vacancies such as Graphics Hardware Architect and Performance Engineer for the Xbox Console Architecture Group. In theory, the next-gen console is on certain early stages of development, which means that it is unlikely that there are working prototypes of the "Xbox 720".
