From DailyTech: Olympus has been on the digital camera market for decades. The company has a line of cameras that includes basic point-and-shoots and offerings that run to the high-end in the micro-four thirds range. The latest of the high-end cameras from Olympus is the E-PL3 micro four thirds offering and the price for the U.S. is now official. Olympus is setting the price of the camera at $699.99 in the US as a kit. The kit will be offered with either a 14-42mm lens or a 17mm pancake pens. The digital camera promises high quality photos and can shoot HD video as well. The resolution of the camera is 12.3-megapixels and it can shoot bursts at up to 5 frames per second. The camera has an ISO range up to 12,800 and a very fast autofocus system. The image sensor is a Live MOS unit with a TruePic VI Image Processor. Along with the camera body, Olympus has also unveiled the VF-3 accessory for the camera that adds an optical viewfinder on top of the camera. The viewfinder attaches to the hotshoe and offers a 100% field-of-view with none of the recordable area cropped. The viewfinder also rotates up 90-degrees for different shooting angles and it can be adjusted for brightness and color temperature to suit your tastes. “The Olympus PEN E-PL3 is designed to capture spontaneous, authentic moments in amazing detail without the need to sacrifice portability or quality,” said Katie Roseman, senior product manager, Olympus Imaging America Inc. “We’ve packed the affordable E-PL3 with technologies and image quality normally found in bigger DSLR-type cameras. Now, with the new VF-3, consumers can get more of a DSLR-like experience from our cameras by looking through the viewfinder to compose the shot.” View: Article @ Source Site |
