Antec Signature Platinum 1000W Report

In the introduction of my Fractal Design Define 7 Dark Tempered Glass review last month, I told a story of a friend, who we nicknamed "HKG", was getting a lot of unwanted attention from a guy. It was understandable why she was getting the kind of attention she did not want, considering even my colleague Aaron Lai, in the Cooler Master MH650 review introduction, admitted she was indeed quite pretty. In my opinion, it goes way beyond her looks, considering her academic achievements -- faculty, grade, and institution -- was at least several leagues ahead of the guy trying to get her. Of course, neither my colleague Aaron nor my friends Chris and Jesse, as introduced in the beginning of the Western Digital Red WD140EFFX 14TB review, have met her in real life when all these things were going on. A month later, it happened Jesse, HKG, and I all were at the same event. While we were at the event, I texted Jesse to tell him who HKG is, who quickly took one glance up from his phone and replied, "Yeah, the guy had no chance." If there is anything I know in the technology world that has always been in a league of its own, it would be the Seasonic PRIME series power supplies. The Seasonic PRIME Ultra Titanium 850W I covered in February 2018 was simply exceptional in every meaningful metric, and I would argue other OEMs have little chance in competing. Antec's Signature line of power supplies has always been about being the best, and the company aptly based their latest Signature series on Seasonic's renowned PRIME platform. Read on to find out why the Antec Signature Platinum 1000W is one of the best power supplies in the market today!

Our review unit of the Antec Signature Platinum 1000W arrived in a medium-sized brown corrugated cardboard box from the company's Taiwanese headquarters in Taipei via FedEx International Priority. You can tell from the above photo the airports the package went through before arriving to us here in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. These airports include Taipei Songshan Airport, Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, Los Angeles International Airport, and of course, FedEx's main hub at Memphis International Airport. Everything arrived in great condition for our review today.

My first impression of the Antec Signature Platinum 1000W's retail packaging was, "Wow, this looks familiar." This may purely be a coincidence, but there is definitely resemblance between this and its OEM platform mate, the Seasonic PRIME series. It is a good coincidence though, since both retail boxes are quite good looking in my books. The black and satin silver color scheme is clean in appearance, and it gets the message across very well. At the top left corner, we can see Antec's logo, while an 80 Plus Platinum badge can be see along the eastern edge under the line "Designed by Antec in California". I wonder where they got inspiration for that? That aside, occupying the majority of the space is a photo of the power supply in three-quarters view next to the SIGNATURE branding in all caps. A series of icons along the bottom highlights its features, including 100% Japanese-made capacitors, continuous power, 100% modular, OC Link, and a generous 10-year warranty. The wattage rating is at the bottom right corner. Feature highlights and specifications can be found on the remaining sides of the box.
